Install Skue

1. Download Skue 1.1 and open the ZIP.
2. Open Install Skue.
3. Choose Install. The installer safely places Skue in Applications.
4. Leave Move the installer to Trash after opening Skue selected if you want the downloaded installer cleaned up automatically, then choose Done. The installer moves itself to Trash, opens Skue, and closes without another prompt.
5. Allow Local Network access when macOS asks so Skue can reach your cameras.

If Safari automatically extracts the ZIP inside a Dropbox-managed Downloads folder and macOS reports error -47 before the installer opens, move the ZIP to the Desktop before opening it. You can also turn off Open “safe” files after downloading in Safari Settings → General.

Choose a camera

Move the pointer over the camera picture. The camera chooser appears in the upper-right corner. Choose a name to switch the live view. The controls fade away when the pointer leaves the viewer.

Use the viewer controls

• Camera chooser: switches to another configured stream.
• Pin: keeps Skue above other app windows. Click it again to return to normal window behavior.
• Focus: lets you draw the exact part of the camera you want to keep in view. In a focused view, it becomes the reset control.
• X: closes the camera viewer and quits Skue.

All four controls appear only while the pointer is over the camera.

Focus on part of a camera

Move the pointer over the viewer and choose Focus, then drag across the exact area you want to keep. The selection can be square, wide, or tall, and the focused view remains intact when you resize the window.

Right-click a focused view to compare it with the entire camera. Choose the circular reset control to return to the original camera view.

Temporarily expand the camera

Right-click anywhere on the camera picture to make the viewer as large as it can be within the available screen, while preserving the camera’s shape and leaving the menu bar and Dock available. Right-click again to restore the exact previous size and position.

Move and resize

Drag anywhere on the camera picture to move the window. Drag an edge or corner to resize it. Skue preserves the live camera’s aspect ratio and fills the viewer edge to edge.

Manage camera addresses

Choose Skue → Camera Addresses… to add, rename, remove, or reorder cameras and edit their full RTSP addresses. Skue stores this list privately on your Mac.

On a new Mac, Skue opens with an empty viewer and waits for you to add a camera. To restore a list you previously exported from Skue, open the Cameras window and choose Import…. Skue never searches the Mac for camera lists or backup files automatically.

Check for updates

Choose Skue → Check for Updates… at any time. Skue also performs a quiet version check no more than once per day. It never downloads or installs an update without you.

If a camera does not appear

Skue normally reconnects on its own if a feed freezes, the Mac wakes from sleep, or the network briefly disappears. It waits progressively longer between repeated failures so it does not continually hammer an unavailable camera.

• Confirm that Skue has Local Network access in System Settings.
• Check that the camera address begins with rtsp:// and is reachable from this Mac.
• Try another configured camera, then return to the original one.
• If macOS itself has stopped allowing local connections, quit Skue and restart the Mac.
