The short version
Skue stores camera names, stream addresses, and viewer preferences on
your Mac. It connects directly to the camera system address you provide.
The app does not require a Skue or Verkheim account and does not include
analytics, telemetry, advertising, or remote crash reporting.
Using Skue does not send your camera streams or camera addresses to Verkheim.
Information stored on the Mac
Local Skue settings can include:
- The names you assign to cameras.
- The full RTSP stream addresses used to open those cameras.
- The selected camera, window placement, and Stay on Top preference.
- One private last-known-good copy of a successfully read camera list, used only if the main list becomes damaged.
These settings remain local unless you separately copy or synchronize
them through another tool or service.
Skue records local diagnostic events through Apple’s unified logging
system to help identify playback, network, update, and installer
failures. Camera names, stream addresses, and access tokens are not
included. Skue does not upload these logs or provide remote crash
reporting.
Network connections
Skue uses the Mac’s local network permission to connect to the RTSP
addresses you configure. Video travels between the Mac and that camera
system. Your camera provider, network equipment, VPN, DNS, or other
infrastructure may have its own logging and privacy behavior.
Skue also checks https://verkheim.com/skue/version.json
at most once per day, or when you choose Check for Updates. The small
file contains only the available version, build number, and Skue
website address. The comparison happens on your Mac and uploads no
camera information or settings.
This website
The Skue website is informational and is not required for everyday
viewing. It does not host your camera streams, camera list, or personal
Skue settings. Like ordinary hosted websites, the hosting provider may
process routine request information needed to deliver pages and protect
the service.
