The history of Saga’s public releases, with the important changes collected in one place.

Version 1.1.0 · Build 23 · July 31, 2026

First public release

Saga 1.0 is the first signed and notarized public version of the native Mac library for books, audiobooks, and the reading life around them.

Library

  • Native books and audiobooks library with cover-only grids.
  • Search, sorting, status filters, manual entry, and catalog search.
  • Paginated book shelves for long libraries.
  • Reversible hiding through a dedicated Hidden shelf.
  • Detailed title windows for ratings, status, notes, summaries, and metadata.
  • Locally stored cover art and title information for reliable offline access.

Connections

  • Goodreads and Audible information can complement the Saga database.
  • A single Sync command runs available library updates.
  • Source data adds and advances; it does not delete or overwrite stronger Saga values.
  • Audible support checks for the Mac App Store app and explains required macOS permission.

Insights and appearance

  • Reading-year summaries, frequency patterns, current reading, authors, and other useful trends.
  • Avenir Next by default with a focused set of font choices.
  • Snow, Fjord, Pine, Cabin, custom accent color, and matching sidebar choices including Glass.

Data and reliability

  • Selectable live-database and backup folders.
  • Cloud-folder-friendly single-writer locking and careful SQLite checkpointing.
  • Optional Books and Audio sections, automatic sync on launch, and remembered landing tab.
  • Optional local publishing folder, with setup help linked directly from Saga Settings.
  • Independent backup schedule measured in days, plus a configurable maximum number of backups to keep.
  • Changing the backup folder takes effect immediately for a manual backup, even before saving the rest of Settings.
  • Faster launch with the library cache loaded away from the main interface.
