A calmer first run, faster libraries, and a more dependable editor.

This larger release gathers the latest feature and reliability work into one update: a more Mac-like installation, a welcoming first run, stronger organization, and fixes for everyday writing.

• Search now includes managed attachment filenames and locally extracted contents. Skriv reads ordinary text directly, uses PDFKit for digital PDFs, and performs on-device OCR for scanned PDFs, images, and compatible written-document previews—without Siri, cloud processing, or uploading a file.
• Images, PDFs, text files, and compatible written documents now remain inline at their Markdown position. Text documents show their readable contents rather than only a link.
• Inline images keep their intended size and always reserve the matching document space through window and sidebar layout changes, so a transient refresh cannot shrink a preview or place it over nearby text.
• When Dropbox delivers a note before its attachments on another Mac, Skriv preserves every inline position and attachment chip with a waiting card, then refreshes the actual preview automatically when the file arrives.
• Note-list excerpts no longer expose encoded Skriv Data attachment paths.
• Undo and Command-Z now operate on real editor changes, while stale interface refreshes can no longer overwrite newer text, displace the visible caret, or make saved text appear missing until relaunch.
• Changing notes safely dismisses an open inspector, preventing its eye button from becoming stuck until Skriv is restarted.
• The installer now makes a clean local preparation copy before checking Skriv’s signature, so Dropbox and other File Provider metadata cannot cause a false integrity-check failure after extraction.
• Copy Note now responds to the first click, even when the editor or another control previously had focus.
• A private recovery draft protects the newest unsaved keystrokes after a crash or power loss; locked-note drafts remain encrypted, and conflicting disk changes are preserved as a recovered copy.
• Folder changes, moves, Trash, restores, attachments, renaming, and locking now use a durable transaction journal that can safely finish or roll back work interrupted by a shutdown.
• Event-driven library monitoring reacts immediately to targeted file changes, coalesces Dropbox activity, and retains periodic full audits without repeatedly hashing the entire library.
• Small rotating local-only diagnostic logs record operational events without note titles or contents, while backups now include and verify a complete SHA-256 manifest through a real extraction test.
• The disposable search index validates its schema, library identity, mutation generation, and checksum before use, rebuilding itself automatically whenever anything is stale or damaged.
• Notes can now be due today, tomorrow, or on a chosen date. A new Reminders sidebar view keeps dated notes in due-date order without turning Skriv into a task manager.
• The always-visible Copy Note toolbar button keeps the complete Markdown body one click away.
• The macOS Share extension now creates notes immediately without a confirmation window: Markdown and text remain editable, while other file types arrive as managed attachments.
• Sharing a note now uses a private disposable copy, so moving an exported file from Yoink or another destination can never move or delete the live note.
• Editor caret, end-of-note typing, and attachment layout fixes keep the insertion point aligned with the text and out of toolbar controls.
• Skriv and its installer are now signed with Apple Developer ID, use Apple’s hardened runtime and secure timestamps, and are notarized and stapled by Apple so official downloads open normally without the former Gatekeeper override.
• A redesigned native installer verifies and safely replaces the app, stays out of the Dock, and reliably moves the original installer to Trash when requested.
• All thirteen selectable notebook icons now use the approved high-depth Nordic Letterpress artwork: substantial raised covers, pressed double rims, tactile paper, and deeply recessed writing lines. Snow, Fjord, Pine, and Cabin match Verkheim’s exact signature palette, while dedicated small-size rendering preserves the dimensional edge in the Dock instead of flattening it during downscaling.
• The selected notebook icon now remains visible in the Dock and app switcher after Skriv is fully closed, while preserving Apple’s Developer ID signature and notarization.
• Fresh libraries begin with three illustrated, editable guide notes tagged #welcome: Welcome to Skriv, Formatting Reference, and Skriv Help.
• The Web Clipper retains readable text, page images, source links, and multi-word default tags.
• Import Markdown, TextBundle, Evernote, Drafts, Obsidian, and Day One while preserving supported folders, tags, dates, and inline attachment placement.
• The main window and first notes appear immediately while the rest of a large library loads in the background.
• Deleting a sidebar folder returns its notes to Notes or Archive, removes the real folder, and never deletes the notes.
• Search now spans Notes, Archive, and every folder, with a separate option to include Trash.
• Mouse selection continues beyond either visible edge while the note auto-scrolls.
• Convert to AI Prompt now replaces exactly the highlighted text, while preserving whole-note conversion when nothing is selected.
• Inline images can be dragged beside a different paragraph while their portable Markdown references move with them.
• Send to AI App now explicitly asks the receiving assistant to carry out the note’s instructions and preserve attachment context.
• Closing Skriv’s main window also closes an open Settings window.
• Focus Mode now has one reliable state across its button, menu item, keyboard shortcut, and editor exit control.
• Custom interface colors remain saved after Settings closes, and note accents follow Skriv’s theme instead of the Mac system accent.
• Accent presets are now the shared Verkheim palette—Snow, Fjord, Pine, and Cabin—with the full color wheel available for any custom choice.
• Sidebar appearances use the same Snow, Fjord, Pine, and Cabin colors, plus Glass; the former Light, Charcoal, and Midnight choices have been removed.
• Snow and very light custom accents retain their exact swatch and fill color while text, links, markers, and controls automatically use a contrast-safe foreground.
• TextKit viewport, attachment-layout, and Focus Mode transition fixes address the supplied long-note crash reports.
• A searchable, responsive help guide includes installation, recovery, formatting, AI, and complete feature guidance.
• The complete app and MCP suites pass, including a 10,000-note library with 1,000 attachment folders.
