Privacy, without fine print

We know nothing about you. We want to keep it that way.

Skriv does not collect, store, track, sell, share, or analyze personal information. We cannot see your notes, and we do not want access to them.

Privacy details

01

Your notes are not our business.

Skriv stores notes as ordinary files in the library folder you choose. It has no Skriv account, cloud service, remote notes database, or sync server. We do not receive your note text, titles, filenames, tags, folders, attachments, searches, editing activity, library location, or encryption keys.

We have no technical ability to inspect your library. If you place it in Dropbox or another synced location, that relationship is between you and that provider.

02

The update check asks for one public file.

Skriv’s only automatic online communication with us is a request for getskriv.com/version.json. That public file contains the current release version, build number, download address, and installer checksum.

Your installed version and build are compared on your Mac. They are not uploaded. The request contains no account, name, email address, note information, usage history, device identifier, or Skriv-generated tracking identifier. Skriv uses an ephemeral network session and does not keep update cookies.

03

No analytics, telemetry, or crash collection.

Skriv does not include analytics, advertising, telemetry, usage reporting, fingerprinting, or a crash-reporting service. We do not know how often you open Skriv, which features you use, how many notes you keep, or when the app encounters a problem.

If you choose to email feedback, a screenshot, or a crash report, we receive only what you deliberately put in that email. Nothing is submitted automatically.

04

Optional connections go directly where you choose.

AI features are off until you configure them. If you choose an online AI provider, Skriv sends the requested material directly from your Mac to that provider using your credentials; it does not pass through Skriv or getskriv.com. Provider handling is governed by that provider’s privacy terms.

The Web Clipper may download images directly from the page you chose to save. Local MCP access stays on your Mac, is disabled by default, and never makes a Skriv cloud connection.

05

This website does not try to recognize you.

getskriv.com is a static website with no account system, contact form, advertising, analytics script, tracking pixel, or Skriv-set cookie. The feedback link simply opens your email app.

The site is delivered by Netlify. Like any hosting provider, Netlify may process ordinary connection details such as an IP address to deliver and secure a request under its own privacy statement. Netlify Analytics is not enabled for this site. We do not use the hosting infrastructure to build profiles of Skriv users, connect website visits to notes, or learn what is in a library.

06

We cannot sell data we do not have.

We do not sell, rent, trade, license, or share personal information. We do not train models on your notes. We do not respond to data-access or deletion requests with a user record because Skriv does not create one.

If Skriv’s privacy behavior ever changes, the revised policy will appear here and the effective date will change. Our goal is simpler: keep collecting nothing.
