Adding feedsBring an RSS address.
Nytt will not include a publisher catalog. On the iPhone, choose Add Feed, enter the HTTPS address of a podcast-style RSS feed, and give it the short name you want to see in the queue.
- Copy the podcast’s public RSS address from its publisher or hosting service.
- Paste the address into Nytt.
- Let Nytt check that the feed contains playable audio.
- Enable it and drag it into the desired order.
Import or export a list
The Feeds menu can import and export a Nytt JSON file through Apple’s Files picker, including iCloud Drive. The file preserves names, HTTPS addresses, enabled switches, and play order. When importing into an existing list, choose whether to add only new feeds or replace the current list.
Nytt accepts HTTPS feeds with audio enclosures. A web page, streaming-service page, or private feed requiring unsupported authentication is not the same thing as an RSS address.
Building the queueThe newest short item from each feed.
When Play Latest is chosen, Nytt refreshes the enabled feeds in order. It considers only the newest playable episode from each source and includes it if the duration is 15 minutes or less.
Already heard
If that exact episode was completed before, Nytt leaves it out unless the feed has published something newer. Play Again deliberately rebuilds the queue without that listened filter.
Long or missing audio
A source with a current episode longer than 15 minutes—or without a valid audio enclosure—is skipped rather than replaced by an older item.
PlaybackFamiliar controls, automatic continuation.
Play, pause, skip forward, skip back, and Next use the ordinary iPhone media controls. When one update ends, the next begins. After the final item, Nytt says, “You’re up to date.”
Playback continues when the screen locks and uses the standard iPhone rules for calls, spoken directions, route changes, and other audio interruptions.
CarPlayWired and wireless use the same app.
There is no separate wireless mode. Once Apple grants Nytt’s CarPlay audio entitlement and the app is installed, iPhone manages either connection type through the same CarPlay framework.
Feed editing remains on the phone. The car interface is limited to Play Latest, the current queue, Now Playing, and standard playback controls.
PermissionsVery little to ask for.
Nytt needs internet access to retrieve the addresses you entered, background audio capability to keep playing, and Apple’s CarPlay audio entitlement to appear in CarPlay. Those are application capabilities, not requests to read personal libraries.
Nytt does not need access to the microphone, location, contacts, calendars, photos, camera, local network, Bluetooth data, notifications, or App Tracking Transparency.
If a feed failsSkip cleanly and keep the drive moving.
A malformed feed, expired address, server outage, unsupported audio file, or duration above 15 minutes should not strand the whole briefing. Nytt records a local, human-readable reason beside that feed and continues to the next one.
Feed hosts can change their addresses or formats. Rechecking or replacing the address on the iPhone is the intended repair path.
